Membership Information and Application

Purpose:
The American Association of Medical Dosimetrists is an international society established to promote and support the Medical Dosimetry profession. We provide opportunities for education, a forum for professional interaction and a representative voice in the healthcare community. The Society seeks to promote an ideal of professional conduct to which its members should aspire and endorses the highest standards of patient care.

Membership:
All memberships are renewed annually and follow the calendar year schedule. Status of membership in the AAMD should reflect a current Member's career position. Members are required to change their membership status as their position in the profession changes. The dues amounts listed below are valid for 2010.
Instructions
- Complete the application form appropriate to your desired membership classification.
- Student applicants: Must be enrolled in a JRCERT accredited programs, enclose a letter, written on letterhead, from your medical dosimetry education program director indicating start and end dates of your program.
- Enclose payments of $30.00 non-refundable application processing fee (students excluded) and appropriate annual membership dues in the form of a check or money order, payable in U.S. funds, or pay by credit card and send to:

- The AAMD Membership Committee will review your materials and recommend a specific membership category. Please allow a review period of two weeks.
- You will be notified by mail with your membership acceptance letter as well as a AAMD membership certificate and a copy of the AAMD code of ethics The payment of dues entitles you to receive MEDICAL DOSIMETRY, the official journal of the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists; national and regional mailings, job placement notices, and reduced meeting rates.
Membership Categories
Individuals who fail to meet these specific requirements, but who can demonstrate adequate experience and education, will be considered for membership.
- Full CMD Members: (2010 DUES: USD$200.00/year) *
Full Members shall be individuals who are certified by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board. (Membership Application)
- Professional Associate Members: (2010 Dues: USD$200.00 per year)*
Professional Associate Members shall be individuals who are interested in the field of medical dosimetry, but who are ineligible to be a Full Member. This includes, but is not limited to, non-certified Medical Dosimetrists, Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists and Radiation Therapists. They shall have all the obligations, rights, and privileges of a Full Member except the right to vote or hold office. They may serve on a standing or ad hoc committee. (Membership Application)
- On-The-Job-Trainee (OJT): (2010 Dues: USD$120.00 per year)* NEW
OJT Members shall be those who are working full-time as Medical Dosimetrist but receiving their formal training on the job under the supervision of a board certified Medical Physicist or CMD. They shall have all the obligations, rights, and privileges of a Full Member except the right to vote or hold office. They may serve on a standing or ad hoc committee.
OJT applicants will need to provide the following with their initial application:
Place of employment
Letter of verification from one of the following: Board Certified Physicist, Board Certified Dosimetrist, or Radiation Oncologist
Letter to be printed on Hospital/Clinic letterhead and should include the following:
- Applicants name
- Verification that applicant is employed full time
- Verification that applicant is classified as an “On-The-Job-Trained” dosimetrist and under the direct supervision of a Physicist/CMD.
- Date that applicant is board eligible
Applicant will only be eligible for this category for a period of 36 months, upon yearly membership renewal applicant will have to provide documentation that they are still working as a dosimetrist trainee at the same institution as original application. If applicant is not still employed they will need to reapply as a Professional Associate member, or provide documentation that they are still a dosimetrist trainee at another institution, but will still only be eligible for trainee category for a total of 36 months, including prior training time. - Student Members: (2010 DUES: USD$60.00 per year) *
Student Members shall be individuals who are full-time students enrolled in a medical dosimetry program which is accredited by an organization recognized by the Corporation. Student membership status shall extend for such time as the individual continuously remains enrolled in the medical dosimetry program recognized by the Corporation, but not to exceed a period of two (2) years. The application fee for student membership to the Corporation shall be waived during the period which they remain Student Members. They shall have all the obligations, rights and privileges of Full Members except the right to vote, hold office, or serve on a standing or ad hoc committee; however, they may, and are encouraged to serve in an advisory capacity to committees.(Student Membership Application)
- Corporate Membership: (2010 DUES: USD$275.00 per year)*
Corporate Members are corporations who are interested in the field of medical dosimetry and the Corporation's involvement therein. They shall have all the obligations, rights and privileges of Full Members except the right to vote, hold office, or serve on a standing or ad hoc committee; however, they may, and are encouraged to serve in an advisory capacity to committees. - Retired Members: (2010 DUES: USD$150 per year)*
Retired Members shall be members in good standing who are fifty-five (55) years of age or older and have been an AAMD member for at least 10 years who request the membership committee to change their membership class to that of Retired Member. Retired members must apply for change of classification if returning to the workforce. They shall have all the obligations, rights and privileges of Full Members except the right to vote, hold office, or serve on a standing or ad hoc committee; however, they may, and are encouraged to serve in an advisory capacity to committees. - Honorary Members:
Honorary Members shall be individuals who have rendered outstanding service in the field of medical radiation dosimetry. Nominations for Honorary Members may be made by any member of the membership committee. Nominations must be written and must detail the individual's qualifications and contributions. The member-ship committee shall present the nomination to the Board of Directors. An affirmative vote of three-fourths of the Board of Directors is necessary for election to the classification of honorary member. They shall pay no dues, and shall have all the obligations, rights and privileges of Full Members except the right to vote, hold office, or serve on a standing or ad hoc committee, however, they may, and are encouraged to serve in an advisory capacity to committees.
